Brolin Signs On For Oldboy

Josh Brolin has signed on to play the lead role in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake.

The film is a remake of the 2003 Korean thriller by Park Chan-Wook and will begin filming next year.
This will allow Brolin time to finish filming on his two latest projects, Gangster Squad and Labor Day.
As we mentioned last week Christian Bale was considering taking on the role of the film’s villain, but there has been no confirmation yet as to whether Bale will be joining the cast.
Brolin will be playing a character that is kidnapped and held hostage in solitary confinement, the reasons for this are unknown. 15 years later the character is released and in true thriller fashion he seeks revenge on the captors who held him there. Lets be honest after 15 years in solitary confinement he’s had a lot of time to think about his plans for revenge.
It looks like this film is shaping up to be quite the interesting one, lets just hope Bale signs on to bring it that extra bit of edge.

Hathaway Being Considered For Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway is being considered for the role of Fantine in the movie version of Les Miserables.

The film that is being made by Tom Hooper already has Hugh Jackman on board and apparently Jackman has been trying to get Hathaway to jump on board for quite a while.
Hathaway would no doubt bring huge star pulling power to the feature film adaptation of the musical, and we’ve already seen her demonstrate her singing abilities in the past, she even performed with Jackman at the 2009 Academy Awards ceremony.
Despite not being the biggest role in the musical, Fantine is a crucial character to the plot, as she is the mother of the musical’s heroine Cosette.
By the looks of things this film remake may shape up to be something amazing, even though there is no more news at the moment, the film is expected to land at the end of the year and with Wolverine currently on hold Jackman is most definitely available.
So lets hope there's more news soon, and fingers crossed Miss Hathaway will be joining.
