Scream 5?

It looks as though there may be another Scream film in the works.
Even though Scream 4 had a pretty disappointing box office performance compared to its predecessors director Wes Craven has told Movie Web that there is a high possibility of another.
The director said, "Yes. The odds are that there will be a Scream 5. It is something that Bob Weinstein wants to do. He tends to do what he wants to do. So I am inclined to think that there will be another sequel. Whether I will be a part of it or not? I don't know. My contract gives me the first look. If they show me something that is really wonderful? Of course I will be a part of it."
So it looks as though those rumors of a new trilogy may be true, Craven added, “Going into Scream 4, the first meeting I had with Kevin Williamson he did sketch out a Scream 5 and6. The idea was that we were doing the first in a new trilogy. We had to wait to see if we made enough money on each film to make the next one viable. If that happens, those two will come up with the concepts and an idea that is worth fulfilling."
But if you want to know whether Scream 4 was an indication as to where the second part of the franchise was going then you’ll have to wait, "I'd have to kill you if I told you. It's better to have an ending where you can't tell where it's going to go next than to have an ending where you go, 'Oh, that is the hook for the sequel. That is the hook for the next one.' We felt it was better to let the audience speculate than to have all of these clues placed in their lap. It's not a matter of not being smart enough. We're clever at this, let's just put it that way,"
It will be interesting to see if there is another Scream movie but only time will tell.

Is This The New Bond Girl?

Rumours are circulating that unknown actress Berenice Marlohe will be the next bond girl.
Rumours have been flying around for ages wondering who the next bond girl is, with the likes of Olivia Wilde and Frieda Pinto being thrown in to the mix and then denied.
But it is apparently this French actress who will be making Daniel Craig go weak at the knees in the still unnamed Bond 23.
The actress who is relatively unknown outside her native France, is currently making the transition from French television into film and is currently making her first film Un bonheur n’arrive jamais seul for James Huth.
If she does get the role not only will it be a major career boost, considering she’s only just making her first feature film, but it will also launch her into the mainstream movie world, after all the role of the bond girl is something most actress’ dream of, considering how many female stars the role has made, Ursula Andress anyone?
So it looks like we will have to sit and wait to see if she is confirmed or denied.

Rooney For Oldboy?

If the rumours are correct it looks as though Rooney Mara may be taking the female lead in the remake of Oldboy.
The actress is apparently the first choice for the female lead in the movie and if she does sign on to star in Spike Lee’s remake, she will be starring alongside Josh Brolin and Christian Bale.
Mara is definitely one to watch at the moment after roles in hit movies Girl With The Dragon TattooThe Social Network and last years remake of Nightmare on Elm Street.
Oldboy will feature Josh Brolin in the lead role as a man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years and is then finally released. Bale is apparently on board to be playing the film’s villain, so I’m guessing the man who imprisons Brolin’s character, however it has not been confirmed or denied that Bales is officially staring in the movie.
The film’s script has been written by Mark Protosevich and it has not been announced as of yet when the film will be shooting or hitting screens. Well I guess they have to get the cast sorted first.

Review: Cosmo Jarvis - Is The World Strange or Am I Strange?

Originally posted on www.soundblab.com

Cosmo Jarvis has come a long way since 2008 when he started out. Since then he has performed in shows alongside the likes of Gym Class Heroes, Panic! at the Disco and Reverend & the Makers. With his second album Is The World Strange or Am I Strange he definitely brings something different. The whole album is packed with catchy and original songs which showcase his multi-faceted voice along with an array of different musical stylings.
The young singer, who has a Mumford vibe about his voice, has made an album here with a generally fun feel which seems light and enjoyable and is definitely something you could find yourself dancing and singing along to in the sun. His voice is what makes this album different; while he does have the alternative pop/rock indie feel on several songs, he also brings a spoken word element to a number of the album tracks and even seems to channel something influenced by folk, which all works together brilliantly to make the album both enjoyable and non-repetitive.
All of the tracks are great in their own way, but songs such as 'Gay Pirates', which tells the tale of two pirates in love, 'Dave's House', which a lot of young people out there will be able to relates to, and 'Blame It on Me', which introduces a cheery folk style vibe, are definitely the stand-out tracks on the album. There's nothing wrong with other ones but these just seem to be the ones that get stuck in your head, and keep you singing along. Some of the songs are a bit long in places but you can forgive him for this as the versatility in music and voice on all the tracks gives you something fresh to listen to, which is really nice to hear after so many copycat singers hitting the shelves in recent years.
All in all, this album is a really fun listen, and I expect we will be hearing a lot more from him in the future.

Review: Doctor Who - Day of the Daleks

Originally posted on www.moviemuser.co.uk

The third Doctor is back with the 1970s story arc, Day of the Daleks, which is brought to DVD for all to remember. In classic Doctor Who style, this serial finds world peace once again hanging in the balance, and the only person standing between mankind and the possibility of a third and final world war is diplomat Reginald Styles. However the diplomat’s fate is also in jeopardy, as a 22nd century guerrilla force believes that Styles helped shape their horrific world, and therefore he needs to die.

After being thrown into the world being policed by the guerrillas, the Doctor and his assistant Jo soon discover that this force are the least of their problems, as they come face to face with the Doctors arch enemies, the Daleks.

Soon, with the Daleks invading Earth and enslaving the population, the Doctor is left in a difficult position, where he must decide whether to stick to what he believes in or betray his beliefs and condone the murder of Styles, thereby changing the course of history forever.

This particular serial does sound like a very appealing and compelling watch, however the episodes do tend to drag a bit, while at the same it still manages to feel like there’s too much going on for the four episodes that the story arc runs. I personally think there are much better episodes from the original run of Doctor Who with this feeling like a bit of a missed opportunity.

The one potentially good thing about this serial is the fact that they have updated the special effects for the episodes on disc two. However this does appear to be a bit of a mistake as the special effects of the new paired with the old doesn’t really work and they stick out like a sore thumb.

Overall Verdict: The overall appeal of this DVD and story arc is pretty limited. If you are a huge fan of the original run then you should be happy enough, but for anyone who loves the new series and wants to discover more about the original run, then there are much better episodes out there for you to start with.

Engagement!

Originally posted on www.twomenonacake.com

If you’re reading this then I assume you are either married, recently engaged or just a sucker for a story about two people who fell in love, and lets be honest who doesn’t enjoy a good love story.
Two Men on a Cake will be looking at couples who aren’t married yet but recently got engaged as well as weddings stories. Therefore I’m going to be telling you a little about myself and what I want from my own wedding, I don’t have anything finalised yet due to needing the money to get married, but I’ve got the man so that’s all that counts at the moment.
Growing up I never wanted to get married, I always saw it as something that was trivial and pointless and just thought that it was now an out dated institution and at the time of thinking this gay couples still couldn’t get married or enter a civil partnership, so I always thought what was the point?
But now as we all know we can get married here in the United Kingdom, which is brilliant, and even though I never wanted to get married I always had an idea of what I would want on my wedding day.
So after meeting someone nine months ago, we first started talking online, how sad/21st century, but hey it’s how most people meet these days. So a few months down the line and I fell in love and originally had no intentions to ever get married, I was happy that I was in a loving relationship and that was fine by me. We often joked about “when we are married” and what not and that’s is how it started off. Then one night whilst out in Manchester infamous gay village with a group of friends we got separated from them, we then found ourselves talking about marriage and then a little later on outside Churchill’s I asked him to marry me, lucky enough for me he said yes.
Now some people may have thought that eight months was a bit quick to get engaged but who cares about what other people may think, I mean he knows me better than nay has ever known me or currently knows me. For my 21st birthday he bought me Kylie Minogue tickets and adopted the penguins at Chester Zoo for me (they’re my favourite), So he knows me pretty well. Now we haven’t put a lot of thought into the wedding yet, (although we have been internet browsing for rings and know that we will eventually have double barrelled name),) but we do want to do it within the next year or two when we have finally got some money behind us, because I know me and I know it wont be cheap.
So what I ideally would want is for it to take place in some sort of country estate with a live band, maybe swing music? You have to have swing music at a wedding; they just go hand in hand. Basically if you have seen the film version of The Time Travellers Wife then the wedding there is something that I will be striving for, so you can now see what I mean by it’s going to be expensive.
So this is where I now begin to save and plan … so wish me luck!

Cooper For Motor City?

Actor Dominic Cooper is currently in talks to join new action thriller Motor City.
The new Albert Hughes film originally had Chris Evans in the frame to star, but by the looks of things all that has since changed.
Cooper who is currently making his way in Hollywood after staring in The Devil’s Double and this summers hit film Captain America, alongside Chris Evans, would be seen playing a recently released prisoner who is on a mission to get revenge on the person that framed him and landed him in prison. So far it sounds like a pretty standard thriller to me.
According to film studio Warner Bros. the film will be produced by Joel Silver under his Silver Pictures Company.
However at this precise moment in time, the screenplay that was written by Chad St John currently has no dialogue, so unless the film is done entirely in mime it could be some time before this sees the light of day.

Red Dawn Remake To See The Light Of Day

News has surfaced that the Red Dawn remake is finally going to get released.
The film that had been scheduled for release quite a while ago now had its cinematic release due to the bankruptcy issues faced by the MGM film studio.
But with their bankruptcy issues behind them now, it looks like the film will now finally get a release for all those out there who were waiting for it.
The independent film studio FilmDistrict has struck up a deal with the studio, which will now see the film get released some time during 2012, so there won’t be much longer to wait now.
To be fair if a remake didn’t get to see the light of day it probably wouldn’t be the worse thing, as Hollywood seems to be churning out remakes and reboots and re-vamps every five minutes these days.
The film also boasts quite a star-studded cast; well it does now after the delay anyway. The film will see Chris Hemsworth, Adrienne Palicki, Alyssa Diaz, Josh Hutcherson and Isabel Lucas all pull together to ensure this remake finally makes an impact on the box office.
So now we just have to sit back and wait for an official release date.

Film Release Dates Moved Up

News has surfaced that three films set for Christmas releases have had their release dates moved forward.
The Adventures of Tin TinWar Horseand Mission: Impossible 4 have all had their Christmas release dates pushed forward by at least a few days.
The Adventures of Tin Tin has seen its release date move up two days to December 21st and War Horse has had its release date changed by three days, which will now see it released on Christmas day.
Dreamworks Spokesman Chip Sullivan said,“After seeing the film, it became clear to us that War Horse is something audiences should be able to see when they’re together with their families on Christmas Day.”
He later added, “They have the time to see multiple movies during the holidays, and we want to be one of their choices when they are most available.”
Tom Cruise’s new Mission Impossible adventure will see it be released five days before its December 21st release in IMAX cinemas.
Brad Bird, the director of the new film told the Los Angeles Times’ hero complex blog, “I wanted the first people that see the film to see it big with a sharp image and great sound systems, so when they went out and talked about the movie they saw, we would know that they had seen it at its best.”
It looks like the studios are competing against each other in the Christmas rush, and with Dreamworks getting the heads up with two films it should be fun to see which movies receive the best box office performance.

Icons: Antony Grey

Originally posted on www.differentscene.co.uk

In the last two sections on gay icons we’ve mentioned two men from the entertainment industry, this week I’m looking at something completely different, Gay rights activist Antony Grey.

Often regarded as Britain’s first gay rights activist due to his central role in pushing through the 1967 Sexual Offences Act, Antony Grey was born Anthony Edgar Gartside Wright on October 6th 1927 in Wilmslow Cheshire, he chose to adopt the Pseudonym Antony Grey in 1962 fearing the dangers of police attention for campaigners of gay rights, during a time when being homosexual could result in life imprisonment.
After winning a place at Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he studied history, Grey left with his degree determined to fight the laws that he said had destroyed the genius Oscar Wilde, and brought misery to thousands of otherwise blameless men.
Oscar Wilde himself had been imprisoned due to section 11 of the 1885 Criminal Amendment Act, which had become known as “the blackmailers’ charter”, along with the Vagrancy Act of 1898 which had made it illegal for homosexual men to do so much as flirt.
After leaving college Grey worked for the British Iron & Steel Federation, that later dissolved into British Steel. During his time here he also began voluntary work for the Homosexual Law Reform Society (HLRS), where he began lobbying for gay equality and to change the laws that criminalised gay men.
After two years in 1960 he became the society’s honorary treasurer and then later became its secretary by the end of 1962, which he continued to do for the next two decades.
During his time there, he was one of the driving forces behind the groundbreaking 1967 Sexual Offences Act. Although he was not happy with the changes made to his original draft legislation which had made it no where near as liberal as he had proposed and wanted, it did include the passage that said, “not withstanding any statutory or common law provision, a homosexual act in private shall not be an offence, provided that the parties consent there to and have attained the age of 21”.
Due to his help in pushing this Act through, it paved the way for other groups such as the Campaign for Homosexual Equality, the Gay Liberation Front and Outrage, to change the laws and attitudes further and further, during the course of the last 40 years.
Along with working for the Homosexual Law Reform Society he also ran the Albany Trust, a charity that helped gay men who had developed psychological problems from being persecuted, before retiring as its director in 1977, but remaining a patron for the remainder of his life.
In his later years he also qualified as a therapist and ran his own blog, along with serving on the executives of the National Council for Civil Liberties and the British Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy. Along with this he was the author of several books that included a memoir Personal Tapestry and Quest for Justice about the 1967 Act.
Later in life he became hurt due to being written off as a trimmer and compromiser, who gave away too much to get the 1967 Act through, that was seen as imperfect by people who didn’t understand the anguish of the 1950s.
After Grey’s death, on April 30th 2010 gay rights activist Peter Tatchell said that he didn’t “believe in the honors system but it is absolutely outrageous and despicable that he was never offered even an OBE, let alone the knighthood that his work for homosexual equality merited”, before adding “I salute Antony Grey and his trail-blazing contribution to LGBT equality and human rights. We all walk in his shadow. Even though he hadn’t been recognized within the honors system for the great things he did for gay rights, the gay community has honored him and in 2007 he was named Stonewalls ‘Hero of the Year’.
When collecting his award Grey said, “The road to homosexual emancipation which I and a few others embarked upon following the Wolfenden Report has been a long and arduous one,” he said in accepting the 2007 award. “But now here we are, and we can be thankful for what has been achieved. At least, we are able to celebrate our identities in this magnificent building, instead of being thrown off the top of it for being who we are — as some of our enemies would like to happen. But the price of liberty is eternal vigilance, and ours is a never-ending struggle not just for our own rights, but for human rights.”
As you can see this man lead an incredible and inspirational life, which has allowed all of us to able to live how we want and have the same equal rights as our heterosexual counterparts, some people don’t even know his name but we owe so much to him.

Justin To Spin Some Gold

Justin Timberlake has signed on to star in new movie Spinning Gold.
The star that seems to have completely ditched his music career to concentrate on films will play Neil Bogart, the founder of Casablanca Records in the new musical biopic.
The record company that was discovered in 1974 was credited with launching the careers of a huge roster of singers who have since gone on to become music superstars. This roster included; KISS, Donna Summer, The Village People and Parliament.
The film is written and produced by the late music mogul’s children, Tim and Evan Bogart. Tim said of the film, “This movie is literally three decades in the making, but we knew that without the perfect actor to bring our father to life on film, his essence and impact on the lives and careers he inspired would never be fully captured - from the moment we met Justin, we knew we'd found our Neil Bogart.”
The film will also be getting the musical soundtrack treatment, so lets hope Timberlake finally gets singing some tunes after his five year hiatus.

Cult Comic To Hit Big Screen

With the comic book film market growing and growing it looks as though cult comic Area 52 has been picked up to get the big screen treatment.
Summit entertainment recently picked up the rights to turn Area 52, which were originally published by image, into a movie.
Brian Haberlin wrote the 2001 comic book mini series and the art was done by Clayton Henry and revolved around Corporal Monica Lane as she was dispatched to an outpost in the Arctic. The remote area where she has been dispatched also turns out to be the place where the US military dispose of things they don’t understand. After the gets off to a boring start thing soon change after an alien killing machine is hatched.
Sounds pretty good to me and it will be nice to see a relatively unknown comic book get the big screen treatment instead of rehashes and reboots of the same ones over and over … SupermanSpider Man and X-Men anyone?
Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian will be producing the film and will be going out to writers for the story soon.

Duchovny Joins Phantom

David Duchovny has signed on to star in indie thriller Phantom.
Duchovny will be staring alongside Ed Harris, Natasha McElhone and William Fichtner, while he takes time from his series Californication.
The film itself is set on a soviet submarine during the time of the cold war, and will see a Russian captain battling with not only a rogue KGB unit but also a supernatural force that appears to be trying to take over the submarine vessel. Doesn’t sound like a fun time for the people in the submarine does it?
The film does sound very interesting indeed, although a little strange so it should be interesting to see how the pull this one off.
Harris will be playing the role of the captain and Duchovny will be stepping in to replace Andy Garcia as the Soviet Special Forces team leader.
The film will be written and directed by Todd Robinson, and will start shooting next month in Long Beach, California.

Review: Doctor Who - Colony in Space

Originally posted on www.moviemuser.co.uk

In a blast from the past John Pertwee stars as the third incarnation of the Doctor all the way from 1972, accompanied by Jo Grant in this adventure into space. Containing all six episodes from the 1970s serial, the Doctor is summoned from his exile on Earth and sent five centuries into the future to confront the Master, whom the time lords have discovered has located the dreaded doomsday weapon.

Upon their arrival the Doctor and Jo encounter a colony of humans who are under threat from the Interplanetary Mining Corporation, which is disputing the colonists’ claim to the planet where they have set up home. Their only hope lies with an adjudicator from Earth. The Doctor on the other hand pursues his mission of finding the Master and stopping him, whilst also combating the IMC, helping the colony and battling with killer robots, giant lizards and primitive tribesmen who aren’t quite what they seem.

This Doctor Who serial is definitely worth while watching. Although the graphics and the monsters don’t look as good as they do in the newer series (which is obvious considering this was made almost 40 year ago), the basic story is still there and any fan of the series old and new will understand what’s going on. It keeps you enthralled from the start when the Doctor ends up on this distant far away planet, right through to the obvious resolution that happens at end. We all know what the Doctor is about, don’t we?

In all fairness it does drag a bit in parts when you watch all the episodes back to back, and at times it does feel like there are two completely separate story lines going on. To be honest there is, but it all links up in the end when you discover what is happening, and I must say the writing for Doctor Who was just as good then as it is now – or should I have put that the other way round.

Overall Verdict: It is nice to see the old episodes of Doctor Who coming to DVD so that old fans can once again relive the memories of the Doctors past, and it’s brilliant for the fans of the new series to see where the Doctor began and what he was up to all those years ago. Even though they can’t expect much from the imagery in comparison to what it is now, the story is still there and it’s a fun watch for anyone.

Alexia Fast Joins One Shot

News has surfaced that actress Alexia Fast is the latest to join the film adaptation of One Shot.
The feature film, which is being directed by Christopher McQuarrie, stars Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher, a former military spy who is investigating a sniper who is accused on murdering five people, however after Cruise’s character goes off on his own, he discovers thing aren’t quite what they seem.
Since the announcement that Fast would be starring in the new film project, The Hollywood Reporter has announced a few details about her character, they said she would play “Sandy, a seductive young siren involved in a setup of Cruise’s character.”
Now that does sound exciting doesn’t it.
A lot has been heard about this film over the past few weeks and it should be interesting to see how it’s pulled off, after all the story is there and they have a great cast, so it looks like it’ll be for the public to decide one it hits cinema screen in the future.
The film will also star Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo and Richard Jenkins, and is expected to start filming next month in Pittsburgh.

Six Jump Into Mud

Following the recent announcement that both Reese Witherspoon and Matthew McConaughey would be heading the cast of new film Mud, six more people have been added to the cast list.
Michael Shannon, Sam Shepard, Ray McKinnon, Joe Don Baker, Sarah Paulson and Paul Sparks have all signed on for Jeff Nichols new coming of age drama.
The film’s main storyline will be revolving around a recluse, who is hiding out in Mississippi and is later discovered by two teenage boys. After discovering the recluse the two boys decide to help the man avoid the law, so that he can reunite with his one true love, Juniper, but with cops and bounty hunters getting in the way thing don’t exactly go to plan.
McConaughey will be playing the recluse Mud and Witherspoon will be playing his one true love, Juniper. Tye Sheridan is on board to play one of the boys; Shannon will be playing Galen, an uncle of one of the boys. Paulson and McKinnon will play one of the boys parents.
Baker and Sparks will play the hunters, and Shepard will be playing Tom Blankenship, another recluse.
The film has started production this week and looks set to be released in 2013.

Eric Bana Is Brilliant

Hulk star Eric Bana has signed on to star in new heist thriller movie Brilliant.
The film, which is in development at Lakeshore Entertainment, will see a small time crook get mixed up in the world of real crime when he becomes involved in a diamond robbery with some big time gangsters. It would appear that Bana would be playing the role of the small time crook who gets a bit out of his league, but this hasn’t been announced from anyone as of yet, so he could in fact be playing a big diamond stealing gangster, interesting.
There are also unconfirmed reports circulating at the moment that, Cameron Diaz has been cast in an unconfirmed role, but nothing has been made official.
It looks like this film is still a little bit of a mystery to everyone.
Gillian Gorfuk, who produced Blood Diamond, has written the film’s screenplay. Robert Luketic has signed on to direct the project.
No other details regarding the release date or shooting dates yet, but watch this space because they should be around soon.

Bleed Me Dry

Apparently many things are changing for people within the gay community, and the biggest change recently is the lifting of the gay blood ban. For years gay men have been unable to donate blood because of the mass fear that that has existed around the gay community’s blood since the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s.
Now however, if you aren’t infected by HIV or have AIDS, you are now able to donate blood. However there are a few rules that still apply, the main one being that you can only donate blood if you haven’t had sex in the last 12 months.
Now I’m sorry but if that is considered a lifting of the ban then everyone must be completely blind, because as far as I am concerned we are still being discriminated against and the fear that we are infected by HIV is still around. The fact of the matter is a huge number of gay men are still unable to give blood because they have had sex and lets be honest not many people go a whole 12 months without sex, but if you are safe and use condoms and have been checked and are showing up as being HIV negative then why do you need to wait 12 months? It’s ridiculous.
I myself, am in a relationship and I know that neither my partner nor myself has HIV as we have both been checked, but we are still unable to donate blood because of the fact we have sex, which is absolutely absurd. Two gay men in a stable monogamous relationship, where neither of them have HIV are unable to donate blood, however single heterosexual men and women are allowed to donate blood, even thought hey may be engaging in promiscuous sex on a regular basis.
These people are at a pretty high risk of contracting the disease themselves, so why don’t they need to have a 12-month ban?
I know that there are men out there who identify as straight but have had sex with men, now if this straight man has contracted HIV and then goes and sleeps with a woman, he could easily pass this on to her without her knowledge, and she could go on to donate blood before it shows up in her system. But because she is straight she is allowed to donate blood even though she may have contracted the virus.
Now I know there is a remote chance of this happening, but there is zero per cent chance that my partner or me have HIV, yet we can’t donate blood.
Yes it may appear to be an achievement to people out there who have no idea about the rules that are still in place, but it looks like there is still a huge fear surrounding the gay community and the HIV virus and it looks like we still have a way to go before people accept the fact that we aren’t riddled with disease.

Catwoman Makes Her First Appearance

This weekend saw the first pictures of Anne Hathaway in her full on Catwoman outfit for the new Batman film.
With the only information released from the film’s production company that Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle, we can now officially see that she will definitely doubling up as the ever so seductive Catwoman.
A few months back the images of a bike riding, goggle lad almost Catwoman leaked online and left many fans including myself pondering over what the finished product would look like, and to be fair a few were left in fear that it wouldn’t live up to the 1992 Tim Burton version played by the sultry Michelle Pfeiffer.
Luckily this new photograph shows what we assume is the final version of the new Catwoman, and it does live up to what we were hoping, and this time we can see she comes complete with ears.
Now we are getting excited about the new film and the new portrayal.
The Dark Knight Rises which co-stars Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon Levitt and obviously Batman himself Christian Bale will be hitting cinemas in July next year.

Lion King Still On Top

The Lion King 3D once again reigned supreme at the American box office.
The 3D re-release of the film took in an estimated $22 million over the weekend showing just how loved Simba and his little friends are. The film that originally only had a two-week cinema release may see this extended due to the huge success of the re-release.
The re-release has seen the film take its all time American gross up to $390 million since it was first released, which is sending it on target to enter the all-time top ten. With this new extension the film will undoubtedly top the $400 million mark and may end up with its spot in the top ten, depending on how long the film is kept in cinemas.
Coming in second at the box office this week was Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, which took in $20.6 million, even Brad couldn’t keep the house of mouse from the top spot. In at third was Dolphin’s Tale about an amputee animal, which too $20.3 million.
It a bit of a disappointing box office performance was Taylor Lautner’s latest outing in Abduction, which took $11.2 million. Rounding off the top five was Jason Statham’s latest picture Killer Elite taking an estimated $9.5 million.

Superman's New Mum

News has surfaced that actress Ayelet Zurer has signed on to star in Superman: Man of Steel.
The actress who has starred in Munich and Angels & Demons will be standing next to Russell Crowe in the latest Superman flick as the super hero’s mother.
Zurer will be replacing Julie Ormond in the role as his mum, or Lara Lorvan as fans of the franchise know her. Susannah York originally played the role in the 1978 film; she later reprised the role in Superman II and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.
It looks like she has some big shoes to fill as the woman who sends her son to earth as her planet faces imminent destruction, especially if she wants to appeal to the huge fan base out there.
The new film Man Of Steel will star Henry Cavil as Clark Kent/Superman, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his Earth parents, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and finally Michael Shannon as General Zod.
Christopher Nolan will be producing and Zack Snyder will be directing and is due for release in June 2013.
