New Bettlejuice
News has surfaced that Warner Bros. are making a new Beetlejuice movie.
As part of a two-year first-look feature deal, David Katzenberg along with Seth Grahame-Smith have both signed on with the studio and one of the first projects they have been attached to is apparently Beetlejuice.
According to Deadline.com the film will not be a remake of the classic 80s black comedy created and directed by Tim Burton, but will instead be a reboot of the original.
Warner Bros. production president Greg Silverman told Deadline “We first got to know Seth through his fantastic work on Dark Shadows and it immediately became a priority to expand our relationship with him.”
“Seth introduced us to David, who greatly impressed us with the vision for KatzSmith from the very first meeting. We firmly believe in their talents and are extremely excited to welcome them to the Warner family.”
Well lets just hope that this is a good reboot and doesn’t completely ruin Beetlejuice altogether. Fingers crossed.
Abigail Breslin To Be Virgin Mary
Abigail Breslin has signed on to star in new indie comedy A Virgin Mary.
The news come a just a short while after Breslin was confirmed to star in another indie comedy, The Class Project, which will see her playing a murderous sister who decides to bump off her abusive mother.
It looks as though Breslin is trying to break away from the sweet and innocent child roles that made her famous and is taking advantage of her teenage years to establish herself as a true actress. A little Drew Barrymore, minus rehab.
The new film that will be written and directed by Beth Schacter, will see Breslin play a teenage Mary, who makes an agreement with her best friend that if they are both virgins by the time they reach 18, then they will have sex with each other.
The film which will also star Carter Jenkins as Mary’s best friend, Keke Palmer and Daryl Sabara.
The aim is to get the film shooting early next year.
Tucker To Star in The Silver Linings Playbook
Chris Tucker has nabbed himself a role in David O Russell’s The Silver Lingings Playbook.
The star is also considering another role in the Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn comedy film Neighbourhood Watch.
This is a quite an unexpected move and looks to be a bit of a comeback, as Tucker hasn’t been seen in a movie since Rush Hour 3 and since 1998 his only acting roles have been in Brett Ratner franchise.
According to Variety, he’s pretty much locked into a deal to star in the drama film, which will see Bradley Cooper star as a former high school teacher who is institutionalised for depression. After his release he goes into the care of his mother and attempt to win back his ex-wife, with little success, all this goes on whilst he becomes involved with his equally troubled neighbour.
Tucker is in talks to play the role of Danny, who has been described as a friends of Cooper’s from the mental institution who breaks out on numerous occasions to visit him, and provide some fun and guidance.
As for Neighbourhood Watch he’s in talks to play Jamacrus, a recent divorcee who most likely signs on to the neighbourhood watch.
Nothing is in stone for either films at the moment but hopefully Tucker is finally making his movie comeback.
