Hugh Grant Joins Cloud Atlas Cast

Hugh Grant has become the latest addition to the film adaptation of David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas.
Grant will be joining the likes of Tom Hanks, Jim Broadbent, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw, Jim Sturgess, David Gyas and Keth David. Quite the impressive list of A listers don’t you think?
Chinese actress Zhou Xun and Doona Bae from Korea will also be joining the cast of the film.
The movie is being independently produced, so to gain a such an amazing cast is one hell of a feat, but it must have something to do with the unconventional book that’s being adapted that has drawn them to the script.
The Wachowski brothers and Tom Tykwer will direct the film, they also wrote the script for the film adaptation. Can anyone say talented?
The film is being shot in Scotland with filming beginning at the end of this week, and will be hitting cinemas near you in late 2012.

Tucci Joins The Company You Keep

Stanley Tucci has signed on to star in The Company You Keep.
Chris Cooper has also joined Tucci in signing on for the new Robert Redford film, which already boast quite a solid cast.
The film, which is both staring and directed by Redford, will see a veteran actor who is a former member of a radical United States group called the Weather Underground Organisation, who organised a number of terrorist acts and protest bombings back in the 1970s. After keeping his head down and his profile low for a long time he is uncovered by a young reporter, who is investigating his past and his possible involvement in a failed robbery attempt.
The other member of the cast include Susan Sarandon, Richard Jenkins, Brit Marling, Julie Christie, Stephen Root and Shia LaBeouf, who will be playing the young reporter.
Tucci has signed on to play LaBeouf’s boss, an editor of a newspaper, Cooper has signed on to play the role of Redford’s brother, who has to protect Redford’s daughter after he goes on the run.
This film is really shaping up to sound like an amazing up and coming release.

Ashley Greene To Star in Olivia Twisted

Twilight star Ashley Greene has signed on to play the lead character in new film Olivia Twisted.
In an interesting concept for a film, first time screenwriter Michael Roberts has adapted Charles Dickens classic story of Oliver Twist and completely done it over to create Olivia Twisted.
The new film twist will find a 19 year old running a crew of well trained street orphans, but while thing may look like they are going well they soon take a turn when a simple kidnapping job suddenly plunges them into the middle of a turf war between two criminal gangs, doesn’t sound so simple now does it?
Michael De Luca, who produced The Social Network, will be heading the project, but it currently does not have a director.
Variety has said that the film will “combine classic Dickensian elements with a unique gothic backdrop.” Now this does sound interesting.
There is no confirmation on when the film will be shooting or released but my guess is that it will probably hit cinemas towards the end of next year.

Sarandon joins The Company You Keep

Susan Sarandon has signed on to star in the new Robert Redford film The Company You Keep.

Sarandon isn’t the only new casting for the Redford flick as Richard Jenkins and Julie Christie have also agreed to take part in the new feature.
The director and star has also signed up a whole new host of fresh talent to join the experienced movie stars on the film as well.
The film has been adapted from a Neil Gordon novel. The picture will see a former member of the militant organisation Weather Underground, who has been hiding from the FBI for 30 years, forced to go on the run after his identity is exposed by a young reporter, played by Shia LeBeouf.
Sarandon will be playing a former Weather Underground type along with Christie, who are noticed after Redford’s character has been exposed. Jenkins will be playing a college with links to the radicals.
The film, which also stars Nick Nolte and Brit Marling will begin shooting next month.

Snipes interested in Blade 4

Wesley Snipes has announced that he would be interested in staring in a fourth instalment of the Blade franchise.

The star, who is currently serving three years in prison for failure to file tax income returns told IGN, "Getting asked this question all the time, my response is: 'Under the right circumstances, with the right team, yes, I'd do another one.' But don't get me wrong, I'm not waiting around for the opportunity. I've got plenty to do."
Although he said there were no current plans to resurrect the franchise, he did say there were ideas for the half human/half vampire character, "It would be nice to fulfill some of the really cool plans we had for Blade, but didn't get the chance to go live with.”
A new Blade film would be interesting, but since Snipes is going to be held up behind bars until July 2013, it looks as though we may be waiting a while for this one.
