Knepper Joins R.I.P.D.

New comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. has added another star to its line up, in the shape of Robert Knepper.
Knepper is best known for his role in hit television series Prison Break, but after enjoying some success in movies such as Good Night, And Good Luck he has now signed on to star in the latest in a long line of comic book adaptations.
The movie, which is being directed by Robert Schwentke will see Ryan Reynolds play a police officer who is killed in the line of duty. But this isn’t the end of his hard work as he is recruited to work in the rest in peace department, which is dedicated to finding ghost who refuse to leave the world.
Other people that have signed onto the project include Jeff Bridges as Reynolds partner, Mary-Louise Parker as their boss and finally Kevin Bacon as the movie’s villain.
It is currently unknown who Knepper will be playing in the film, all that is known is that is character is dead and a wayward spirit if you will.
The film is currently being shot in Boston right now and will hit cinemas in 2013.

Rambin The Surfer

New girl on the block Leven Rambin has signed up to star in new surfing film Mavericks.
After making her break through appearance as Glimmer in The Hunger Games it looks as though she is finally making a splash in Hollywood, after working her way up after years of appearing in television shows.
The film Mavericks, which has been written by Brandon Hooper and is being directed by Curtis Hanson, will see the true story of big wave surfer Jay Moriarty hit the big screen. Jonny Weston has signed on to play the surfing legend and Gerard Butler has signed on to star as the man who mentored him and watched him rise to the top of his sport.
Rambin herself will play a surf girl from California, who along with being Moriarty’s best friend is also his main love interest.
There is currently no set start date for filming yet, but I’m guessing it will most likely hit the big screen next year for the summer rush, because lets face it this does sound like it would make more of a splash in the summer than the winter.

Renner The Bank Robber

Jeremy Renner has signed up to both produce and star in a movie adaptation of the J North Conway novel, King of Heists.
It looks as though the movie star has been bitten by the bank robber bug, after receiving an Oscar nomination for his role in The Town, where he also stole a lot of money.
The film documents the true life tale of George Leslie, a man who arrived in New York during the 1860s, looking like an ordinary gentleman. However he was hiding a rather big secret from people, he put together and pulled off a huge heist during 1878 at a Manhattan Saving institution which saw him get away with around $3 million. Being the brilliant robber that he was no one guessed he was involved until after his death.
The script will be written by Will Staples, who is well known in the gaming world and is currently involved in writing a sci-fi flick for James Cameron.  Renner will be producing along with his partner Don Hadfield.
It is currently unknown who else will be staring in the project or when it will begin filming, but with the script still being written it looks like it may be a while yet.

O'Malley Joins R.I.P.D.

Comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. has added another cast member to its list in the form of Glee supporting actor Mike O’Malley.

Also joining the cast will be Victoria’s Secret model Marisa Miller. They will both have small supporting roles in the latest comic book film to hit screens.
Ryan Reynolds will be staring in the film’s lead role, as a police officer that is cut down in the line of duty. After his death his work is only just beginning as he is assigned to the titular force of deceased police officers whose job is to make sure that no spirits are causing mayhem. Reynolds character also has his own quest, as he attempts to seek down the man who killed him.
Also rumoured to be joining the cast is James Hong, who would be playing the part of Reynolds earthly avatar.
Looks like this film is shaping up to have quite the cast.
Shooting for the film is expected to kick off next week.

Olivia Wilde Replaces Jennifer Garner

Olivia Wilde has replaced Jennifer Garner in the cast of indie drama Better Living Through Chemistry.

Garner had had to pull out of the film due to the recent announcement that she is currently pregnant with her third child.
Wilde will be playing the role of a trophy wife who lures a small town chemist, played by Sam Rockwell, from a loveless marriage with crazy nights filled with passions and prescription drugs. But things all get a bit sinister when they begin to plan the murder of Wilde’s husband.
Michelle Monaghan has also been cast in the film, playing the part of Rockwell’s wife, and Judy Dench will be joining the cast as the narrator, she did do a fabulous job of narrating in Notes on a Scandal.
Geoff Moore and David Posamentier both wrote the script and will now be joining each other in their own director chairs.
The film has been pushed slightly back due to the casting change, but they plan to start work on the film this autumn in Maryland.

Stephanie Szostak Lands R.I.P.D

Stephanie Szostak has landed the lead female role in the film adaptation of eerie comic book R.I.P.D.

The actress who was last seen playing Paul Rudd’s girlfriend in comedy Dinner for Schmucks will be playing the wife of Ryan Reynolds.
Reynolds, who heads up the cast will be playing a police officer, who after being killed in the line of duty is recruited by the Rest In Peace Department, who happen to be a team of undead officers.
As the wife of the dead Reynolds, Szostak’s characters can still sense her dead husband as he tries to communicate with her whilst delving into his own murder. It sounds like a creepier version of the film classic Ghost, don’t you think?
Also joining the cast will be Jeff Bridges, who plays Reynolds’ partner, and Kevin Bacon who has been cast in the role of the film’s villain.
The film is currently in pre-production with Robert Schwentke at the helm of it all.

Get Ready for Sin City 2

Film director Robert Rodriguez has claimed that the financing for Sin City 2 has been agreed.

It has been a few years since Sin City hit the big screens and filled comic book fans with joy, so fans were made up when the director announced at comic-con that Frank Miller had written a script for a follow up and the film could start shooting later this year.
When talking in San Diego, Rodriguez announced that the money was now in place to begin shooting. He told We Got This Covered, "Sin City 2 is going good, we're just finishing the script for that, we already got the money. We have everything we need so we can just start shooting as soon as we get the pages.”
The sequel to the hit film is based on the comic book A Dame To Kill For, which was also created by Miller.
If this is true the character Marv and Nancy would be returning as they both feature in the comic, which could lead to the return of both Jessica Alba and Mickey Rourke.
There has been no confirmation yet about the stars signing on, so watch this space …
