Catwoman Makes Her First Appearance

This weekend saw the first pictures of Anne Hathaway in her full on Catwoman outfit for the new Batman film.
With the only information released from the film’s production company that Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle, we can now officially see that she will definitely doubling up as the ever so seductive Catwoman.
A few months back the images of a bike riding, goggle lad almost Catwoman leaked online and left many fans including myself pondering over what the finished product would look like, and to be fair a few were left in fear that it wouldn’t live up to the 1992 Tim Burton version played by the sultry Michelle Pfeiffer.
Luckily this new photograph shows what we assume is the final version of the new Catwoman, and it does live up to what we were hoping, and this time we can see she comes complete with ears.
Now we are getting excited about the new film and the new portrayal.
The Dark Knight Rises which co-stars Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon Levitt and obviously Batman himself Christian Bale will be hitting cinemas in July next year.

Lion King Still On Top

The Lion King 3D once again reigned supreme at the American box office.
The 3D re-release of the film took in an estimated $22 million over the weekend showing just how loved Simba and his little friends are. The film that originally only had a two-week cinema release may see this extended due to the huge success of the re-release.
The re-release has seen the film take its all time American gross up to $390 million since it was first released, which is sending it on target to enter the all-time top ten. With this new extension the film will undoubtedly top the $400 million mark and may end up with its spot in the top ten, depending on how long the film is kept in cinemas.
Coming in second at the box office this week was Moneyball starring Brad Pitt, which took in $20.6 million, even Brad couldn’t keep the house of mouse from the top spot. In at third was Dolphin’s Tale about an amputee animal, which too $20.3 million.
It a bit of a disappointing box office performance was Taylor Lautner’s latest outing in Abduction, which took $11.2 million. Rounding off the top five was Jason Statham’s latest picture Killer Elite taking an estimated $9.5 million.

Superman's New Mum

News has surfaced that actress Ayelet Zurer has signed on to star in Superman: Man of Steel.
The actress who has starred in Munich and Angels & Demons will be standing next to Russell Crowe in the latest Superman flick as the super hero’s mother.
Zurer will be replacing Julie Ormond in the role as his mum, or Lara Lorvan as fans of the franchise know her. Susannah York originally played the role in the 1978 film; she later reprised the role in Superman II and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.
It looks like she has some big shoes to fill as the woman who sends her son to earth as her planet faces imminent destruction, especially if she wants to appeal to the huge fan base out there.
The new film Man Of Steel will star Henry Cavil as Clark Kent/Superman, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as his Earth parents, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and finally Michael Shannon as General Zod.
Christopher Nolan will be producing and Zack Snyder will be directing and is due for release in June 2013.

The latest pic to emerge from the shooting of new Batman film The Dark Knight Rises shows Anne Hathaway getting nasty.

Yes the latest picture to emerge shows Anne Hathaway’s Selena Kyle/Catwoman getting into a fight with what looks like a mugger, and still manages to hold on to a half eaten apple. This woman really knows how to fight.
The scene was shot during a shoot in L.A.
The image of the fight (pictured left) was captured by JustJared.com while on set.
I’m not too sure about anyone else out there but I am really excited for the final instalment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, and it should be really interesting to see just how Anne Hathaway pulls off Catwoman, I mean she has big shoes to fill.
But looking at this fight scene she surely knows how to pack a punch, so lets just hope her Catwoman does as well.

Van Damme and Norris for Expendables 2

Rumours have been circulating that Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris have officially joined the cast of The Expendables 2.

It has also been rumoured that John Travolta will also be staring in the second instalment of the 80s throwback action film. But where as CEO of NU Boyana Studios David Varod has recently confirmed in an interview that the first two actors have signed on, there has been no confirmation or mention of Travolta.
Scott Adkins has also joined the new cast with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis reprising their roles from the first film.
With the first film grossing over $275 million at the international box office it was clear that a second movie would be made. With an expected release date of August 17th 2012, Simon West will direct and Ken Kaufman and David Agosto will write the script.
The plot will revolve around the team swearing vengeance against those responsible for killing Tool, who was played by Mickey Rourke in the first film.

Humpty Dumpty With a Twist

It looks as though the classic nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty is getting a new spin in a new comic book and a potential new film.

We all know the story of Humpty, an egg who is also part human who falls off a wall and smashes and presumably dies, and is promptly put back together again.
However Writer Billy Majestic has re-envisioned Humpty as something completely different.
The new and pretty sadistic egg will now be a half-alien/half human mutant who goes on a murderous killing spree in order to avenge his mother, who was torture and murdered by a group of rednecks. Yes you read correctly the classic and adored little egg who fell off the wall is about to become a vengeful killer mutant.
As well as the comic a new feature film adaptation is also in the works. Currently in pre-production stages the creators are  'developing a unique technical process to bring Humpty to life with minimum use of digital creature effects.'
This does sound extremely interesting what with the rise in recent comic book remakes, but the thought of a nursery rhyme being completely turned on its head and then made in to a movie really does sound fascinating, so watch this space.

Bale May Join Oldboy

It looks as though Christian Bale is on the look out for his next big film project and has Oldboy in mind.

With filming on the next Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises coming to an end, Variety has reported that one of Bale’s potential next film roles is the villain in Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy.
Based on the Korean original, the film would see Bale playing a fiend who locks the film’s hero in a hotel room for 15 years. Which is a definite change from his role as the caped crusader.
This isn’t the only option for Bale, as he has apparently taken a shine to Clint Eastwood’s remake of A Star is Born and Michael Mann’s Gold, a treasure hunt thriller.
Bale is seriously in demand at the moment, which probably has something to do with his Academy Award win earlier this year, as he’s also been linked to Out Of The Furnace and Noah.
However Bales has another project to complete before considering these, as he is apparently appearing in Terrence Malick’s currently unnamed next project.

Wolverine Pushed Back

X-sequel The Wolverine has hit problems, resulting in filming being pushed back from autumn 2011 to some time in early 2012.

One theory behind the filming delay is that it will allow the film’s star Hugh Jackman to begin work on Les Miserables, however there is still the big question of where the filming will take place.
The original plan was to shoot most of the movie in Japan, but with the recent earthquake disaster many of the planned locations have had to be compromised.
A compromise was made with filming to commence in Vancouver in November, but Jackman’s commitments have made these plans highly unlikely.
With Fox reportedly planning on pulling out of Japan all together (which would prove difficult for filming as the majority of the film is set there), this looks like another hurdle for the film after the planned director Darren Aronofsky pulled out.
But with James Mangold now at the helm, and with the success of the original Wolverine film and the recent success of X-Men I doubt Fox will be closing this project anytime soon.

Transformers Hold on to Box Office Top Spot

Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon has held onto its pole position at the top of the American box office.
The film took in an astounding $47 million, and even though it’s a 52 percent decrease from last week, it gives the film a 12-day total of $261 million.
By this point the original Transformers had pulled in $212.3 million, while the second of the feature films Revenge of the Fallen had pulled in an almighty $293.4 million.
The film beat its nearest competitor, comedy Horrible Bosses by nearly $20 million, after it came in second place grossing a total of $28.1 million.
Although Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon is at the top spot it has failed to match the success of its predecessor, but this said it has helped the franchise gross an astonishing $645 million. Could the franchise hit the coveted $1 billion mark soon? Only time will tell.
The films position at number this week however may be its last, as it sees stiff competition next week from a certain wizard who goes by the name of Harry Potter.
